Neurology Expertise

The Fort Wayne Neurological Center (FWNC) has been providing neurological expertise to patients in the Tri-State region for over 35 years.

The 11 board certified neurologists at the FWNC offer over 250 years of combined neurological expertise, and have been treating patients with systemic thrombolysis since 1995. They have participated groundbreaking thrombolysis research such as the NINDS and STARS trials which have created the foundation for the current stroke treatment guidelines.

The FWNC is still actively involved in cutting-edge research on stroke and other neurological diseases. The creation of the StrokeCareNow Network now allows us to extend this expertise to patients in the entire region in their own communities - using Telemedicine and Teleradiology.

Since 2007 the FWNC has been able to bring Neurotinterventional stroke treatment options such as intra-arterial thrombolysis and mechanical embolectomy (MERCI retriever and PENUMBRA) to patients in Fort Wayne and the Tri-State region. Thus bringing new hope for patients who, prior to this, had exhausted their treatment options.

Further, the FWNC is now able to offer minimally invasive treatment options for vascular diseases of the brain such as coil embolization of brain aneurysms, tumor embolization and treatment of vascular malformations closer to home in close cooperation with the neurosurgeons of the Fort Wayne Neurological Center.
